Anesthesiologists are the physicians who use anesthesia to ensure you're asleep or unconscious during surgery or other medical procedures. They also relieve pain before, during and after operations and treat chronic pain patients with devices such as medication pumps or procedures like nerve blocks.

Unique Facts:

• My parents live with us, and my husband is also a physician specializing in pulmonology and critical care.
• My eldest daughter is a doctor in residency for pediatrics and plans to pursue a fellowship in pediatric ICU.
• My youngest daughter is graduating this year with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
• I co-founded a foster-based rescue organization, and right from the start, we rescued and successfully adopted out 140 cats and kittens.
• I enjoy knitting and crocheting, creating my own designs. I have a passion for rock music and appreciate all forms of art. Additionally, I speak Turkish, Armenian, and some English (lol), and I'm currently learning Spanish.
• I used to figure skate before transitioning to ballroom dancing. I've always wanted to learn ballroom, but the opportunity only recently arose. I’m thrilled to be part of Dancing with the Doctors 2025 with her pro-partner Jiri Zejda .  
• Dr. Calikyan is sure to keep everyone awake when she takes to the dance floor. By day, she works as an anesthesiologist, but her diverse activities keep her agile and prepared to dazzle with her skills in pursuit of the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy.
